Yes, it is possible to live map is the short answer

Hardware-wise, this is what you need;

DIY from here www.moates.net if you can live without datalogging or www.tweecer.com if you cannot do without it. There are alternatives out there but this is pretty much the cheapest way of doing it. I use the Ostrich setup from Moates and it's excellent.

Whilst the Tweecer comes with it's own editing software a lot of people use TunerPro ( http://tunerpro.markmansur.com ), that said there is a new release of the Tweecer software currently downloadable as a beta version that is meant to fix a lot of the bugs.

There's also plenty of American forums that will be of use, this is one which has quite a few knowledgeable guys on; http://eectuning.org/forums .

Which eec-iv is your mate running? If it's a GUFB strategy (e.g. A9L) he'll be in luck because it's the most hacked Ford ecu.
