Count me in.

Set it up on Poker Stars, as their guest table service is really easy to use. We run a couple of weekly £30 single table tourneys on there.

Up the stakes a little though mate - $5 single table?

Stu and Gareth - surprised you both don't actually, as it would appeal to your logical mathematical sensibilities!

As you both like to absorb information, the best way to learn is to play with play money, ONLY to get a feel for how the play moves and the speed/format etc. Then a lot of the poker books out there will give you the basics, but most are very average. If you want to take it semi-seriously, then the only book I would recommend is "Harrington on Hold Em Vol1". A lot of that book applies to playing live though, which is inevitably far more exciting than sitting in front of the laptop.

Otherwise, look at Scott Fischman's Online Poker Ace.

The advanced concepts of playing at quite a high level are lost on most poker players, which is why some will always be winning players - that is where the skill factor lies. The concept of pot odds, fold equity, +EV plays are things that you get to later on, but are the things that you give you an edge and an advantage over others.

It can be very fun to play, and a good little sideline earner...... like a mate of mine who started playing as a sideline, and cashed out over $2.5 million this year alone
