just what i did in the end.
popped down to a mate who has a garage down the road.
he tried to stretch the gaiter i had bought but it wouldnt go far enough.

he gave me a kit that he had on the shelf and put it on my shaft for me.
its a great little tool he had, just plug it into the air line and it opens right up.

only charged me 4 quid for the gaiter, metal clips for it and the grease.

all sorted now. ready for the mot tomorrow.
