Build some weld up on the top of the broken stud till it is proud of the head then use a set of mole grips to remove it.
I did this on a stud on my vectra head worked a treat! The heat from the welding also helps to free the stud, might be a bit of a bitch if it is seized though.

thought about that m8, but it's the stud at the back so access is awful have hired a right angled drill for tuesday to try and drill it out.
