Yes they are rarer. Yes they are worth more than D,E,F,G,H plate S2's in
SAME CONDITION due to the rarity. (Same as the S1 D plates: and I'm not just saying that cos I own one). As always tho, it comes down to the condition of the car. Two cars exactly the same: one on a G (for example) one on a J, the J is going to be worth more due to the rarity factor. Late registration or not, there were less of them initially, and are worth more accordingly. (Difficult to put a precise additional ££ on it tho).
*Info* There were only 8 J plate S2's.

It's just a late registration, just because there was only a few of them, I can't see how it makes them any more rare imo! I know i'd go by condition not necessarily age. Yes I can understand bigging it up being a later car, but what does it have that the year or so younger models dont?
