Sorry mate, meant to reply on weds, but forgot

Went out to the car & checked it for you. If you try to hand-spin the fan, it only moves a few 'blades' worth & is quite stiff. When the fans is switched on, then off, it continues to spin for around 2 seconds before stopping.

I don't think that you can lube then up as I'm sure they are a sealed unit: but could be wrong: I've never taken one apart, so you might be able to.

As for wiring: next to the therm housing there is a plug. This is the original fan switch wiring. You need to break into this & add two wires then run them into the dash area & fit your switch. In the S2 I used a simple toggle switch, but the S1 already had one fitted. See pic: switch next to the foglight one. Not sure what the switch is off the, as it has a fan pic on it.
