you really shouldnt be tampering with the mixture screw unless you have an air/fuel ratio meter!! if you get it wrong it could lead to all sorts of problems and may well result in engine failure!!!
my advice to you both would be to bite to bullet and take it to a tuners and get it set up on the rolling road. its the only way to find any problems properly.
