This is a good point - who's to say when he rang up the insurance company he didn't take the reg off his paperwork rather than the car.

You should check the reg to see what car comes up and say you weren't driving that car they should have records of the proper reg to correct the info if they don't I can't see how they can proceed.

But tbh it probably don't mean jack shit and they'll ignore you and nick you anyway
