Default Federal 595 RSR - Any good?

As title really. These seem to be sensible money for a track day tyre and am fancying something a bit more grippy for my next track outing

personally with the cost of fuel, the track day, taking time out, travel etc, id spend a little more and go for a toyo or yoko dedicated track day tyre.

im not saying there no good, i have no experience, but you can get the new R888R from camskill, tyre leader or oponeo for not much more...

have them on the back of my car and I couldn't fault them
I cant compare them to 888s as ive never tried them
but they grip like hell compared to any other tyre ive used
and the thread is sticking it really well too
the last time I looked there was a big price difference between them and 888s

hi ive got them all round on a 350 horse rwd sapp & i really rate them i would say there are the same as r888 on track in dry & better in the wet on the road but a fraction of the price of r888 or dunlop direza's & my m8 has them on his evo 6 after seeing what there like on mine & he says they are awesome.
hope this helps.

From what I've found on any of those sites, there are barely any R888R sizes available...or even old 888's

And any there are, they're a hell of a lot more expensive than the Federals

I've just bought a set of these to try. Local drifters seem to love them and they're very keenly priced.

Certainly last year at a drag event one of the guys I raced in the final, me on 888's and him on the Westlakes, after the run his tyres felt softer than my 888's although he did do a burnout before the run and I didnt.

He rates them very good for grip, although said the Achilles 123s that Driftworks sell grip even better. I'd have bought them if it wasnt for the ridiculous shipping price to Northern Ireland

Havent used them hard yet to see what they're like though, only got them on and first drive today, but as always its pishing down here.

Had them on the Cossie. They were good, but once I went to R888 the grip is night and day.

But for the money, probably best track tyre.

It'll be interesting to see what the new R88R's are like if anyone ever gets to use them, and if they're affordable.

Good to hear positive feed back on these. Did consider the R888 but they hike the price from £85 a tyre to £135 a tyre. I just can't justify the additional £200 outlay for them.

I'm guessing 888's only came down in price for a while because they were selling off old stock ?

I got some 888's at a sensible price last year, but later in the year availability on the likes of Oponeo was very hit or miss, over a wide range of sizes.
There are very few sizes now ( although do see the old 17" size I was using at a half decent price available at the minute )

The prices the likes of Demon Tweeks ask are just diabolical by comparison

Well after making a decision and deciding to trial the Federal tyres picking the phone up soon ruined my plan. The tyre is only available with an 88 load index and not the 91/92 I need. Looks like only the R888 is available as I need it but the price hike makes it painful.
