A little stretch looks ok IMO but some of these cars with a tiny tyre on a wide wheel look bloody awful! I suppose it works 'ok' on the VW scene but that's about it!

A tiny amount is ok (195 where a 205 might sit for instance) but the knobbers with the ones that look set to pop look silly and are dangerous.

I've had a small stretch on tyres before, in my vw days it was 235/35/19 on a 10x19 and it wasn't too bad, just was worrying as I didn't want to damage the rim but those was the biggest tyres I could fit and get easy access to.

now this shit is awful and dangerous, having an inch or two contact with the road is just not right, I wonder if any of these idiots have had accidents and been taken to court?

Oh my eyes...that pic above!

I cannot stand the massive camber, especially when on the rear of fwd car where it is a little 1.2 polo that will never make the camber do anything.

I don't mind a small stretch.... But I certainly wouldn't want to go anymore!

I have a small stretch to aid clearance though...

That stretch looks fine to me although I wouldn't be running that low myself. If the tyres rub then it would need sorting for me.

I noted at this years ford fair the amount of fords with serious stretch and it really put me off big time, as it simply reminded me at times of vw chavfest

Its another fad in the world of Petrolheads. They would not understand why you would keep an old Ford Standard. Personally I don't like anything that compromises a car from going fast so for me this busted look or a standard Cossie don't appeal. I know someone that would walk past a minty mint RS500 to go into raptures about this cars that look as if the axles are broken. Best to accept that we are all after different things as a Petrolhead.

I quite like a little stretch, but some of the VW's look horrendous.

I've got 205's on an 8j on the Escort.

And used to have 165's on a 7j rim with my Fiesta.

I had 195/40 on my escort cossie wheels I had on my old fiesta I liked how it looked and meant I could have it as low as I wanted without rubbing, it was quite harsh to drive but I soon got used to it.

Yeah, the fiesta I had about 9-10 years ago when I was 18. I wouldn't drive a car with tyres that that these days.

I dont get that either.

Us Ford lads spend a fortune getting rid of rust.
The VW botters spend a fortune collecting/attracting rust.

The stretched look looks pants an really wide wheels.

I think it all depends what you intend to use it for. I don't get the stretch look on something that is going to be thrown around and is mean't to be a performance car but if its just for cruizing around in i can see any issues and have never experienced any problems.

I have a few with stretch, one with a lot of stretch and some without.

Don't think i'm going to be popular with this one

This is the lot of stretch (195/45/14 on a 10" rear rim and 8" front rim):

Name: 2014-09-21%2019.31.12.jpg
Views: 223
Size: 133.1 KB

Never had any issues with tyres popping off rims etc

Oh it has rust as well sorry but it was rough to start with.

My benz runs 225/40/18 on 8 and 8.5" width rims with no issues, it wont run 235s

these imo look right when done properly not how the veedubbers do them

It was a £400 van and really ruff to start with. It is very marmite and gets as many complements as abuse to be honest so im not too worried about objections to it. I use it for the occasional camping trip so fits my needs.

Old people have cursed it a few times, gypsies have tried buying it going down the M4 but i don't think im ready to part with it just yet
