hi. i would like to know if i can fit 10mm hubcentric wheel spacers to my mondeo st tdci, using the standard studs on the hub without any issues. Or will i have to put in longer studs? i have the standard multispoke alloys on the car at the moment. thanks stampy

I wouldn't want to have 10mm less thread into the wheel nuts mate, you'll be halving the amount holding the wheel on.
You can get longer studs off e bay for a decent price. I've used them a few times.

I've heard/seen that 5mm spacers are ok on standard studs, but wasn't sure on how much would be left on(thread) to hold the wheel on. And I've heard that getting the old studs out are a pain in the butt to remove

I've fit 20mm Hubcentric spacers on my Mondeo ST, lowered with the 20mm eibach kit too

Hubcentric spacers are fine, that's the whole point of them. They bolt to the hub, then the wheel bolts to the spacer. I used to use then on my old focus st with rs wheels, think I had 15 mm eibach ones.

Yeah ok that's great, but really what I need to no is how much(thickness of spacer) can I go before I need to change studs on the hub? Has anyone put 10mm spacers with the standard set up?

On Your original post you said hubcentric spacers. You don't need to change the studs for any size of spacer! You bolt the spacer to the hub, then bolt the wheel to the spacer.

Yeah sorry, ok, I mean then, just the hub centric shims. Was hoping to buy 10mm spacers/shims(the ones without the studs already built into the spacer) and use my original set up on the car? I'm guessing by the sound of things,that it cannot be done/not safe(not enough thread on standard stud)

Won't be anywhere near enough, you should get away with anything less than 5 mm, otherwise it's longer studs or the hubcentric spacer.

Ok thanks for the great feedback guys. Possible just go for the safe option and have 5mm spacers on. Has anyone done it on here(5mm) or is it not really worth it?
