I have a mk1 escort cosworth, running on sapphire discs and calipers. The car has works bubble arches. So I am running on standard 6.5j wheels with 50mm spacers to sit right under the arches. I want to get rid of the spacers and get some rims that are wide enough, or get some deep dish with an offset. Any ideas please. I don't understand about this thing.

If you want the wheels to sit like they do now, then you'll need wheels with 50 less on the offset to get rid of your spacers.
So if you current offset is et50 you need to go et0.

Just stick in your existing info and then your proposed wheel size/offset and you'll see. AS ridgey said, if your current wheels are (lets say) ET40, then you'll need 50mm less offset so ET-10. An 8J wheel with an offset 30mm less than your current wheel would stick out 49.1mm more without requiring the use of spacers.

Depends on the width of the axle. But with bubble arches you could run 8" or even 9" rims with a reasonable negative offset (depending on your axle width) of somewhere between -6 and -12.
