Default After fitting cossie wheels

Right as some of you know ive just put cossie wheels on my rs2000.

It now scrubs on the back on the arches even going over the slightest of bumps with nobody in the back.

If I get better shocks will this help?

Also people have asked if it tramlines with them on what does this mean?

Cheers

cossie wheels on a mk6 is never going to be trouble free which is why I sold them from my 4x4 after driving it, as offset and width is wrong and rolling rear arches can help but stretching tyres to make fit loses you important grip and leaves the rim open to damage and spoils the look of a nice clean car, tramlines simply mean does the steering on certain roads feel like its stuck in wear grooves on the road or that the car wants to steer itself, for what its worth the 7j mondeo version has better offset and width and improoves handling

I knew it wouldn't be straight forward tbh but I love the look of them on the car!

Trouble is fitting mondeo alloys is it looks like a GTI then!

for sure escos wheels do look nice but when it loses you handling and ride quality it's simply not worth it and the 7j ones do stick out further than normal run of the mill mondys and have a et of 35, even sold the escos wheels on my FRST for same reason looked good but handled crap

I drove my mates escort gti on escos rims and it drove shocking which is a shame as it looked the bollocks. Can you not run coilovers so you can fine tune the ride height so it doesn't catch and also fit cambr shims. I know a lot of vag lads run camber to avoid rubbing on wide wheels. Not a fan myself but might be a option

I'll look into getting the arches done as I really want to keep the wheels on. Ive not really noticed much difference in handling tbh it drives fine just scrubs now and then!

biggest problem when altering a car to suit wheels is its a personal touch and when you move on from this car it could put a new buyer off if wanting a OE rs2k

Would coilovers on the back not help to sort this then? Obviously it still might scrape now and then but nowhere near as bad...

thats the thing Glenn my fiesta did look good with them on but handled like hell so they were changed in favor of 7j diamond cut rs7s and it drove great, escos wheels should only be for escos in my humble opinion

I agree, don't think they look nice or drive nice on anything other than an escort cosworth

yes mate totally agree but I think most of us that have used these wheels in the past on cars other than a escos have all had issues so its a case of deciding is it really worth the aggro thats all, stretched tyres in the vw scene work but not so much in the ford scene unless a car is slammed on its arse

Yes it is a headache, ive spoken to a lad who has them on his gti and he's had no scrubbing or camber issues unless having weight in the back

big difference is the rs2k is nose heavy due to the heavier I4 engine and the power being around 35hp more so its only a slight comparison

I find it amazing how the size of a wheel can affect so much. I dont personally know but why does having wider wheels affect a car in such ways? After all, if tracking and geometry is all ok why does an extra bit of width affect anything?

Its your car matey so if you wanna leave the wheels on you do that.People say saffs drive shite on focus rs wheels but I think mine drives ok.If I wanna drive a car that's mint at handling I will use my Pooma.

Peoples thoughts won't make me change what wheels I have but do appreciate the comments good or bad!

Personally I think your cossie looks well on those wheels!

Also have use of a puma and no matter what wheels I have it wont match the handling of it haha

Have you any pics of it mate? Been looking at rolled arches and im not keen. What coilovers do you run and did you need the camber doing as others haven't bothered.

Cheers
