Default Need some new tyres

Need some new tyres for the Mondeo so a set of 225/40/18's

The ones I've got on I love because they are really quiet on the motorway even though they are cheap and cheerful, event wl905's at £45 a corner

But

How much better are the more expensive makes?

The car has done less than 3000 miles in the last 4 years so longevity isn't really an issue, but standing around is and now I've noticed some very small cracks in the tread I don't want to wait to get them replaced, even though the car may spend the next month standing and then get back on the road for ford fair most likely so you can tell I use it as an everyday motor

Don't forget it's running some ap's so even on no grip surfaces the stopping power is absolutely phenomenal, in fact, when I was on the track at ford fair I simply could not brake too late, and out brakes everything, including a 400 brake green focus who overtook me on the straight and then braked while I sailed past him before braking later and I STILL braked too early

I'm also looking at some suspension upgrades in the near future so I want something that will complement the driving experience without making it unfit to go to the shops in or drop the kids off to school tyre wise

Cheers

Personally, I'd go for a premium brand over some cheap chinese ditch finders. After all, it's the only thing connecting your car to the road.

Try Camskill, black circle or google best buy tyres.

I've got the joy of finding some 275/40/18's soon and those fuckers aren't cheap!

i can get the same tyres from camskill for £45 a corner and, to be honest, they've never let me down

just want to know what others who have used the same size feel about other makes

the only priviso is that i am after people who have actually used those tyres who can comment on what they are like to live with, not someone who's put some 888's on a fiesta for track use only

I personally use continental tyres, they are original fit on my focus and they are the best all rounder. They grip well, last well and no noticeable road noise. They are not cheap but you have got to be doing something seriously wrong to make it loose traction.

I use Fallen FK452's on my 2.2 titanium x 54 plate. About £75 a corner, but quiet on the road and good in the wet and dry. Been using them for a long time, I,ve had several sets.
Not the cheapest, but by far not the most expensive.

not fucking likely when i can get them for less than that off the web

but contis would be my first choice if i can get them for a decent price, but i'm not sure if they are twice as good a tyre for twice the price

i know someone will have a "but the one time you need them" etc line but i've never been in a situation where that's been the case so...

i don't "mind" spending £££ on them, i just want to be able to say they are worth that much more £ than the others

I think the conti's are worth the money. Chucking down 300+ bhp in a front wheel drive ford needs all the help you can get

I bought a pair from camskill, going to take them to bed tonight before getting them fitted tomorrow

I had the falken fk452 in that size.
They did well although a little noisey.
My mondeo is running the same size tyres as yours and I plan on fitting cheapies next time.
