Default Pectel T2 to EEC-V

Hope everyone is well.... been running a Pectel T2 which no one can unlock and i've been quoted £245.00 plus vat to have it blanked then tow the car to a tuner who can map Pectel is all to much hassle and money plus actually remapping it - since having my op to remove cancer cant work till i'm fully recovered so i have decided with a spare focus rs mk1 ecu sitting there to go with a rs mk1 ecu and loom to run the zetec turbo in the focus mk1

So my question being if my current setup is piggy back what will be involved to install the focus rs mk1 ecu and loom. With it installed i can tune the car more easily. I know im gonna need the sensors but i need as much help and info as possible please with the actual installation to current setup...

Has anyone done this? Massive thanks in advance..

Insane cost to wipe a ecu especially when it should only take a couple of minutes after pressing a delete button in the software.

Try Harvey Gibbs at supreme car services he can unlock it but I don't know the price.

You need to see if the old wiring has been cut back which then would make it very hard to go back.

HI mate what do you mean? if the T2 loom has been spliced in to Focus loom?

What i need to know is what is in a standard FRS loom setup ie my t2 sits there as piggy back..but does the FRS eec-v pcm control EVERYTHING like my standard focus sitting behind t2 does? thats the main thing i need to know.. which will mean as above hard work...

...i have the ecu and RS loom just need to incorporate it into t whats left over with T2 .

t2 loom is using standard focus MASS air flow and Coil pack...so im guess these two need to be removed...

You need to speak to who fitted it to see if they cut out the old loom. I have seen some sensible installations where it's easy to convert back to some truely terrible ones where a new standard loom would be needed to convert back.

At a guess they would of used a custom loom and just connected the parts they wanted to existing wiring etc I don't think a ford would of cut the loom out as iam sure the focus ecu controls everything on the car like interior lights etc as well as the engine iam not 100 % sure but I remember doing a car for Ian where we just tapped into the coil
Etc to get the car working.
I think the car kept cutting out as the immobiliser was kicking in but we finally got our head around it after a few hours.
Get a specialist to look at it but I would pay the £300 odd quid to get it unlocked as I still think it would be cheaper.
Have you tried life racing as I think they used to be pectel engineers before starting life racing so they may have contacts .
Who have you tried cosworth electronics?

Cheers paul

Ive had a quote from PI research or what use to be pectel in Northampton £245+plus vat to have it blanked (that wasback in 2010) then towing the car with a blank ecu and have it mapped which will be another £500 EASY (not including towing) plus a new loom which is what will be highly recommended by the next mapper so that will it £1000 no problem...

with a spare RS ecu lying around kindly donate by a fellow member 100 for a loom i cant go wrong ...hence why i was investigating what i need to do ...im gonna need injectors too now...

K so firstly huge thank you to all your replies..massive respect for taking the time to reply!

Finally got pectel loom out which has been modded in to standard loom to run coil, map, air temp , maf, coolant temp and boost solenoid all from small cossy turbo engine.

I have now replaced it with th focus rs loom - now ive just realised , even though ive owned an RS , theres no blimmin temp sensor.....now on the pectel the coolant temp sensor cotrolled the idle at cold....but there is no temp sensor on the RS loom obviously...how does the RS control cold starts??

I will be using standard 2.0 throttle, ats04 air temp tem sensor...boost control not an issue will be using direct pipe with low boost setting for now....

As my question above how does rs mk1 control cold starts Using my standard focus dash/clocks can i not wire the temp gauge ? isit easy/hard?

Cheers peoples...

The Rs mk1 does have temp sensors. Coolant is in the head, below the exhaust and charge temp is in the alloy elbow on the Tb.

The eecv doesn't control much of the car ons ford at this age. This is done by the gems/ body control ecu. And a seperate ecu for the abs.

To get the ecu running you will need the matching rdif chip found in the key from at least one key.

This is for the pats. No key and the ecu is a paper weight.

To getting it running well, match the sensors and spec of the engine to the ecu tune.

Sensors and hardware you need.

Injectors
Crank sensor
Cam sensor
Tps
Charge temp sensor ( seperate from the maf on an rs)
Coolant temp sensor
Maf (same as st170 and st220)
Map (2.5 bar same as diesel)
Pre and post O2 sensors (any zetec)
Coil pack (any zetec)
Boost solenoid (same as mk2 st or gm ie saab/vauxhall)

It also likes to see a dozen other signals

Speed
Clutch
Throttle Wot
Ac low pressure
Power steering high pressure
Canister purge valve
Telemetrix
And more but you can get around these.

I would avoid chopping up an rs loom. An st 170 loom can be adapted and is 1/5 the price.
