Nearly got stuck at the Nurburgring ! Please help!
i have just returned from what supposed to be a fun and enjoyable weekend at "the ring" with a group of 6 mates in 4 cars,
so the journey there on friday was fine albeit a long one due to a sat nav error.
4 laps on saturday spread throughout the day,
1 lap on the sunday due to buying time on the gp track but being closed as we got there,
so on my last lap of the track, 12km into the lap, it cuts out, cranks but no fuel pump prime, no dash lights, no spark.
immediately i rip off the cover to the fuse box and start to fumble around........
too late, the safety car arrives, £150 just for that!
then i get recovered off the track by the tracks agent, £300 for that!
so i get my car from the compound and push it outside with mates.
we spend 45 minutes looking for broken earths or wiring, nothing found.
all of a sudden the car just decides its going to work.
starts and runs for about 15 minutes, and then dies again.
we investigate further, bypassing ignition switch, change relay positions in the fuse box etc etc..... no change.
4 hours passes, it starts, i cancel my european breakdown request and head for home, 4 hours drive through germany, belguim and france, get to the euro tunnel passport control, dies again. get towed to the terminal by a friendly tunnel assistant, miss the train and have to wait 3 1/2 hours to the next one. (middle of night)
again cannot find anything obvious to suspect.
after the 3 1/2 hour wait car starts and runs, drive onto train, drive off train, drives for 60 mins to home and thats where i am with it now!
i know its a long winded post but i am seriously at my wits end with the car.
im thinking its likely to be a dry joint in the relay / fuse box but thought id ask here before ripping the car to bits and not getting anywhere fast.
any help / advice would be appreciated.
i will start a seperate thread elsewhere to show some pics of the trip.

10K+ Poster!!
Anything heat related, does it always work when cold and left to stand?
I wonder if you could remove the fuse board and get it checked or swap for another to rule that out?
If the fuel injection and fuel pump etc relays are cheap enough I would swap them out to rule them out....the 911's used to fail on dme relay to the point that our mechanic used to make sure we all had a spare in the car.
