Default ST170 Clutch advice

had my brake pipes replaced on my ST170 last week, and then the next day my clutch starts slipping, 1st thing I thought was possibly air in the system when the garage done the brakes, as clutch has only done 9000 miles from new, but my local garage refused to bleed the system as he said if there was air in the system it woudlnt cause slipping just car not going into gear easily,

But would rather second opinions. its a lot of money to spend if I really dont have too, tried googling but answers but its a minefield, so was hoping someone on here might know.

TIA

I could be wrong or missing something but I agree with the garage - air in the clutch line would make it more difficult to disengage rather than make it disengage by itself.

Does seem a funny coincidence though.

I was afraid of this answer lol, but was half expecting it, just seems strange as clutch has literally done 9k, and from what the receipt says everything was replaced. but never having a car with a bad clutch before it was worth asking, and I know quite a few mechanics and technical guys are on here, so who better to ask

If it's failed in that short a distance I would expect to find a leaking slave cylinder or a failed part of the clutch rather than general wear. Unless of course you are doing full bore launches all day lol.

What clutch kit did you use?

unfortunalty I dont know what clutch kit it was, as it was done just before I purchased the car, receipt just says Duel Mass flywheel and 3 peice clutch, cost about Ł620 for everything about 3 years ago,

Quotes im getting now are around 950-1000 so not sure if prices have gone up since then or cheap parts was used,

It also doesnt mention the Slave cylinder on the receipt, so maybe that wasnt changed.

The slave cylinder would have been part of the 3pc clutch kit
But unfortunately i agree with above, air in the system will not cause the clutch to slip
It would do the opposit and not let the clutch clear
So needs the gearbox out to investigate the problem

Cheers mate,

Gonna see if I can nurse it for aslong as possible, and save for a single mass upgrade, at least then if it goes again it should only be a clutch I need.

Sounds like it's had a cheap clutch kit fitted.
