Default Coilover Spring Length.

I know little about suspension. I wish to replace my Front coilover springs & had no idea of there original length. They measure 8 1/4". I assume they wont have stretched so what im asking is it possible to have shortened by 3/4" over a 10 year period. 8" or 9" im not sure.

Cheers Rod

I would think a company like spax, koni or other would want to sponsor your car?

I've never see a set compress by 3/4" but I suppose it could happen. Softer springs tend to compress a little more.
I work at leda so I've seen a few.

I'll see if I can find them on our system Rod. If they have been standing for some time it's possible they could start to sag. I'm off in today for a bit of "Home work" so I'll have a chat with the boss and scan our records.
It might be prudent to get them to us for a dyno session just to make sure they're still performing at original spec or close to it at least..

Thanks. The spring is marked S9 on it then 200. Im confused as I thought it was a 8" 275lb rate spring. We are talking maybe 15 years ago when these were purchased.

Thanks for that. I cant remember when that Spring was fitted maybe I complained it was too hard with the 275lb rate Mark usually fits. I didn't not track the car & it was to my likeing as a road car. Thanks again.

No problem Rod. Like I said though I'd be getting the dampers dyno'd to be on the safe side. If the springs have sagged by .75" I'd be having new ones too. Let me know if you need me to sort you some.

Yes I need new Springs that's for sure. 9" long & 2.5" I/d. The spring rate will be discussed with Mark it appears I changed the 275 ones to 200 at some stage. A price would be nice. Maybe Leda would want to sponsor the Fastest Cosworth there has ever been ( I can only ask) all records set on its suspension. Thanks again for your input.
