P100 2.9 V6 conversion
Hi all,
I posted last year my P100 oil burner blew up, its fixed and ill run it for a bit.
I have bought a 2.9 V6 Granada auto complete and running great, I am going to swap the engine over to the P100.
engine swap first.
I have had a look on some posts and it looks straight forward
Question is which gearbox or hybrid box combi should I use, don't want to use the auto, is the p100 box no good to use?
I will upload some pics of the P100 and the Grandad before I start soon
Cheers Ian

From my understanding, and it's limited, you need either a Type 9 with the Forrest bellhousing or the box off the 2.9 providing it's a 2wd. I'm not sure if the 4x4 uses a transfer box outside or internally but I don't think the 4wd one will work.

You also need a needle bearing for the 2.9 crank for the layshaft to run on,cars with autoboxes don't have them.
Cost Ł5 from Ford last time I bought 1.
Xr4i gearbox will be the easiest thing to slot in,I'd be more worried about wiring it up so it runs.
A 2.9 v6 cosworth engine would prob be easier to wire up,more power, nicer looking.
iirc the pre 1992 loom is the 1 you want.

Caddyshack, no offence taken, it is a big job, I'll enjoy the challenge.
I'm 52 now and I would like to get the job done, modern technology gives me a chance to get the info I need before I strip down the donor car, I may sell the Grandad and buy a rotten sierra, all the info is out there and I am grateful to all on here.
I am not interested in a great handling pick up; just installing the big engine will do me fine for now.
