Zetec transplant questions.
Hi, I've got a 2.0 Mk1 Mondeo i want to transplant into a P100. For the meantime I want to use the origional injection set up but is this viable as is or do I need aftermarket management? Is there an Imobilizer in the Mondeo and if so can it be bypassed or brought to the P100?
Any help would be great.

Bring back old skool Ford
1995-1996 i think.
I took my 2.0 out of a 93 and there was def no PATS but im running bike carbs anyway. The original induction system is very restrictive

Pats came in on the M reg, I don't know why people sweat it with the Pats. You can't bypass it but you can bring it to what ever your putting it in. Easy as. Give me Pats over pre pats any day as 97 on you get obd2 functions.
Assuming the donor is a manual 1993~94 then it will have one of three ecu's.
Deep, desk, dewy. If you can't find the pin outs give me a shout and I will see if I still have them on an old back up disk.
One I made earlier with a fiesta/escort inlet mani.
Just to show you pats is no big deal. St170 turned round on a t9 bell housing.
I am doing a turbo zetec with Rs management at the moment.

Just the one that's in your car. Yours should be one of them 3.
You get to it from the engine bay, behind the coolant expansion tank.
There will be a white sticker on the grey plug of the ecu with a four digit code. There are hundreds of them.

The st170 lump was set up for a kit car so it was a cut down sump.
I've done the cvh sump and it's naf. You have a better chance of winning the lottery than finding a 25 year old bit of Ford tin that only had half a layer of paint to start with then left hanging in the salt and elements since.
Even if you find one you need the pick up and spreader plates. It doesn't fit around the black top oil pump aswell as the silver top.
But yes it can be done.

A zetec / st170 cut and shut sump I did. If you can get the alloy girdle over the cross member the steel pan could be made any shape.

Was that successful? I'd be dubious about the lack of oil volume in the engine, but how did you find it? Also, I'm guessing you'd have shortened the Pick up as well?

Works fine, it's pretty much the standard height in a lotus 7 rep. It's the same depth as the bottom of the bell housing. The engine in a Mondeo or focus is canted forward so the pan is not flat when the engine is stood upright on a T9 or mt75. Besides where you remove volume you add some of it back where the exhaust runs.
Volume is around 4.1 L, add a cooler and it will take it over factory. Besides the oil gets changed much more often. As they do very little milage.

I have a PATS Zetec fitted to my mk3 Escort. Personally I would look for a PATs system as the inbuilt un-bypassable immobiliser is a welcome addition to keeping the car in my ownership.
I have a guide on my website that has some usefull info on electrics. For some reason I cannot get the direct URL up so you'll have to do a bit of navigating to get to it.
www.Auto-TaT.co.uk
click on the first (missing) picture to enter 'Escort Upgrades'
Click on 'Engine' from the left hand column
Click on 'Zetec'
Scroll down and click on 'Zetec ECU Pin List'
There is more info on that page than just the pin list, one of these days I'll get round to updating the thing. The wiring in of the PATS system and the diagnostic port are both covered.
Hope this helps.

hi.
a zetec in a p100 sounds really cool, mate!
i'm building something similar: a saph 2.0 silvertop from a 1.8cvh.
i was trying to use std mondeo ecu, but i had assembly issues between std intake manifold with 1.8cvh saph engine mounts.
s**ted myself off...
so the plan now would be going on with megajolt and bike carbs... but it might not be the best solution.
posting here my progress...just 'cause you might be interested.
