focus tdci ran near empry, now wont start, diesel pressure ?
Hi guys, have an 07 plate focus 1.6 tdci. Car was run to a near empty tank ( 25 miles left ) , parked on a hill, later, went to start up and wouldn't fire. Went and got a few cans of diesel, now reading quarter of a tank on the gauge, but engine still won't fire up. I've heard that the fuel system needs bleeding of air to start. is this something I can do at home ?,manually prime it ? Or is this a garage job

Be surprised if at 25 miles you had run out of fuel, if you have tho they are a pain to get going again best way is with a manual hand primer to bring fuel up past the fuel filter

try filling the filter up bud it takes 2 of you to bleed the system crack of each injector then get some one to turn her over while you do them up bud if she still wont fire up then it could be your crank sensor bud

dont crack off the injectors and crank it, its pointless on a tdci all it will do is cause a fuel pressure drop and stop delivery of the fuel not to mention the pressure that can come out of those pipes can take your skin off easily. you need to get a diesel primer bulb and fit it onto the fuel return pipe either on the pump or at the filter and pump the air out until you get a good flow of diesel, then it will fire straight up takes minutes i do it everytime i service them and works everytime
