Diesel Fiesta wont start
Hi guys,
I have a W plate diesel Fiesta that wont start. Its the 1.8td Endura engine.
I was driving along the other day when the car just stopped - no noise or anything. The engine turns over ok but wouldnt fire so I had to have it recovered. When I got home I checked the cambelt to find it still intact. There is also fuel to the injectors.
Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong with it? Could the cambelt have "jumped a tooth" and retarded the timing? Is there any sensors that could be causing the problem?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Not sure. Ive only had about ten mins to look at it so far so I'm not sure about the lift pump. Surely if the lift pump had failed there wouldn't be any fuel getting to the injectors? Or are u thinking of something else?

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
It is probably the EDC module that sits on top of the fuel pump that is fried.
Not a nice thing to happen but it does. Options are, new pump at about Ł700+ fitting or a repaired EDC module for Ł300+ fitting.
Search online about the EDC module, it effects loads of cars from that era with Bosch VE injection pumps, not just Fords.

By fuel pump, I'm assuming you mean injection pump?
Does the module control the injection pump firing time? If so, why would it be allowing fuel to the injectors? Is there anyway of testing the module before condemning it?
Sorry for all the questions!

Just been out and taken a look. Played around with the wires going into the EDC module and a few other wires, now the engine starts!! Good news in some ways but doesnt mean Ive actually found the problem..... Played around with the wires whilst engine running but couldnt get it to stop? Starts/stops without any problems now??
