Default Problem after brake change on 2011 Focus

Just finished changing brake shoes on my 2011 Focus, following the instructions in the Chilton manual. On this model, one removes four bolts from the backside of the wheel plate and removes the drum, spindle and bearings as one piece. [Have to unbolt and remove the wheel speed sensor first.]

Brake shoes probably didn't need changing yet, but did them anyway. Brushed/cleaned and lubed the appropriate parts and reassembled. On start up, the ABS and the Traction Control lights came on and stayed on as long as the the key was in ignition.

All articles I've read suggest problem with missing sensor ring on bearing, metal shavings contaminating sensor or bad sensor.

First two are not issue, and have even removed the sensors a second time and cleaned them. Also disconnected the battery to reset the computer and codes. Those didn't help.

Is there anything else I should check before paying the dealer to read the codes? OR any other ideas?

You may have damaged the sensor, which I think is the most likely case...

Have you driven it? The abs self tests itself at approx 15mph from initial start up. The light will stay on if the sensors have been removed until it's self test is done

It would pass its self test if the car hasn't moved. As Marty said you have probably damaged a sensor.
