Default oil pressure ... ?

Hi ... what sort of oil pressure should I expect in at Cosworth engine running a HP oil pump, 15 50 oil at idle Cold and hot... ?

As it is Ive been running a mechanical gauge showing 85-90 psi Cold and 33-35 psi hot .. both at idle.

Now I have put in a 10 bar vdo sensor with a el. gauge and its showing 69-70 psi Cold and 23,8-18,6 psi hot .. witch I feel is a bit low .. or ?

please advice .. ?

Default pressure

your mechanical gauge would have been reading about right for a decent motor

just had a similar thing myself today-had an electrical gauge-about 65/70psi cold idle etc-changed the gauge but kept the existing sensor now it shows just above 2 bar at idle -looks like i need to get the correct electrical sender to sort it out...

your 10 bar sensor is too much for your 100 psi gauge

10 bar = 145 psi

Yes the gauge always needs to be fitted as a matched pair with the sensor.
