Default Replacement engine

My 02 plate ford focus zetec s 1.6 needs another engine does the engine have to have the same 4 digit code as the engine in the car or can I just put any 02 plate engine in as long as it's a 1.6 out of an 02 plate I'm using same wiring can anybody help plz

I should think so mate, not that I know a lot about it but if it all connects up the same I'd be suprised if it didn't work...it is a ford, after all

I put an engine from an 04 plate 1.6 focus into an old V plated one. The engines were slightly different as one had a MAF but the other one was a MAP, but just used the inlet and the wiring loom from the old engine and it was all fine.
