cossy 24v tow starts but not via starter
Hi my car has a BOA and MT75 box. It will start very easily with a tow (4 car lengths) but will not start using the starter, spins over quickly and has a little cough!. are there any wires that need connecting that would have gone to the auto box to tell the ecu it needs to start? is there a wire that would tell it is in Park? and/or brakes pressed?
Regards

need more info
when you tow start it you leave the ignition on and then just pop the clutch and it works fine?
when you crank it it just cranks and cranks and cranks? but won't fire? or catch?
does the fuel pump prime when the ignition is on?
did you put the fuel pipes on the correct way round?

not starting
think you got wrong end of the stick
it does start easy with a short tow. Carries on running as expected from that point.
when trying with the key it spins over quickly but will not start, the fuel pump can be heard priming when turning on the ignition..
do I have to 'fool' the ecu into thinking the auto is in P or some other sensor/wire?????

Autos have an inhibiter that prevents them from starting in anything other than P or N.
It does not allow a crank (otherwise it defeats the object)
When you tow start you are simply using kinetic energy to turn the engine rather than the starter motor, only thing I can think is something like when the starter is operational there is not enough power for other circuits, hence a non starter.
