Ford Focus - Safing Sensor?
Hi Guys,
The airbag light on my Focus has been giving me the following codes;
23- Safing Sensor Circuit Input Feed/Return Circuit Open (does this once)
22- Safing Sensor Output Shorted to Battery Voltage (keeps flashing this)
Anybody any ideas on how to trace this issue or where the safing sensor is located? I have a donor Focus sitting there with no airbag issues that I can pull most parts from.
Cheers
Paul

Air Bag Control Module
The air bag control module governs the operation of the whole system, including the diagnostic element. It contains two frontal impact micro machine sensors; a crash sensor and a safing sensor. These two sensors are connected in series and if they both sense a deceleration in excess of a predetermined limit, the air bag control module will deploy the air bag module(s).

Hi, thanks for that.
So does that mean that the safing sensors are contained within the control module?
Does ETIS list if they need to be reset or will I need to try get a matching replacement from an uncrashed car from a breakers?

I don't think they can be reset. And I'm sure a new module has to be programmed to the vehicle otherwise it will throw up a code for mis matched modules. As for the flash codes these tend to indicate a general area of where the fault is. It would be better to retrieve an actual fault code before throwing parts at it.
