Failed the MOT as apparently the brake works fine but the lever comes up too far. I understand it has a self adjuster but clearly something s wrong.

Any fix available?

PS - unfortunately I got the guy who likes to fail on an much as possible i.e. curly corner on the numberplate (!), wrong colour indicators, slightly rusty brake pipes, miss-aimed washer jets........... Mmmm... I know some may be legit but frustrating none the less.

if it's self adjusting then it's normally the cables that stretch and fail, £15 a side from the factors and easy to fit

if it's the mechanism then it's a pain in the arse to removebut just make sure you have a working replacement to refit

they went manual adjustment after 04 i think and the fittings ont he end are different too

If it is a self adjusting one - Should have had a recall YEARS ago to replace the lever with an adjustable one.

Self adjusting ones used to play up, they bought out a bodge at first then, a recall to replace the lever.

17mm nut on a threaded bar on the lever, under the car, exhaust heat sheild needs dropping to get to it.

Bought car at three years old and up until then it had never had a recall applied. Any since then I wasn't aware of.

I'll drop the heat shield just in case there is an adjuster. Then probably get down to the factors :-(
