Default Focus TDDi Fault Codes

About 200 miles ago I had a problem starting the car one evening after it had been sat about 20 mins, went to start the car I which starts straight away and cuts out as soon as it idles (Rev counter was going to 900ish then off). Along with a flashing glow plug light, tried it 3 or 4 more times, on the last time I pressed the accelerator to keep the revs up and it worked, didnt stall and has been fine for over 200 miles.

I won a F Super 2 Diagnostics kit off ebay for a tenner and read the codes, as the systems I have wont read my car, because its a pre 2002 ECU.

So i got 3 codes off the F super shite. (Which didnt seem to clear codes and managed to 'lose' the fuel pump and it wouldnt start, which is sorted now)

P0409 (EGR Related to sensors but the EGR is Unplugged so these are irrelivant) along with P0404.

I also got P0167 o2 Heater Sensor Circuit Malfuction Bank 2 Sensor 3.
Which Im guessing the car has Heated Lambda Sensors, one of which has failed? But it runs spot on and doesnt give any EML light or Flashing Glow plug?

Would a bad o2 sensor lead to not starting? Or is that probably just a funny 'moment' it had, as I would of expected it to do another 'moment' sooner, sat on the motorway the other day for about 20 miles pulled like a train, really impressed for somthing with 200K on the clock.

Another note is about 3 days after it wouldnt start it was remapped? I got P0262 from the cluster as a fault code which is Injector 1 High voltage, I have read that on Focus RS MK1s and Focus TDCI after a remap people have seen this code and its just gone away?

P0167 is not a valid code for this engine.
You probably don't have any oxygen sensor in the exhaust, never mind 6 (six).
You most certainly don't have an exhaust with 2 banks (2 catalysts).

So, if this code is questionable, I also don't trust the other codes.
Get it on a good reader, i.e. dealer equipment.

Right, good point youve made, It has a cat I just assumed it had a before and after heated o2 sensors, it says in the guide for the TDDi Focus Models use the TDCi option, obviously this is wrong, the only TDDi available was the mondeo 2.0 engine?

People have used this system on Focus TDDis before, unless the software ive got is old.

Oxygen sensors before and after a cat is something from a petrol engine.
The oxygen sensors are not needed/useless on diesels.
Only modern diesels complete with Diesel Particulate Filter can have one oxygen sensor (per bank), which is located after the DPF and used during regenerating the DPF.

Okay, so have you any idea why I would be getting such codes?

Cannot remember who posted this up but there was a thread a while back giving info on a Czech site that flogs diagnostics. But thanks anyway, whoever you were who posted up the info.
http://forum.fordiag.cz/index.php?si...708aa240c77d3d

Might be worth having a look and I remember reading that it works on TDDI's which are pre-odb.

Yes ive got that software but it needs a diagnostic scanner and im not paying Ł70 Ł80 to scan one car, might aswell take it to a garage, you have to contact the guy himself who made the software to get the interface, but all this was 2012ish and havent heard anything more about it so I doubt id even get one!

The dash self test doesn't actually scan the Engine PCM.

And only gives these codes

1elf Diagnostic Mode Displayed DTC DTC Description Source
9202 B1202 Fuel pump module circuit open Instrument cluster
9204 B1204 Fuel pump module short to ground Instrument cluster
9342 B1342 PCM is defective Instrument cluster
9317 B1317 Battery voltage high (greater than 16V) Instrument cluster
9318 B1318 Battery voltage low (less than 10V) Instrument cluster
9359 B1359 Ignition Run/ACC circuit failure Instrument cluster
A143 B2143 NVM memory failure Instrument cluster
A477 B2477 Module configuration failure Instrument cluster
D041 U1041 Invalid data for vehicle speed Instrument cluster
D027 U1027 Invalid data for engine RPM Instrument cluster
D073 U1073 Invalid data for engine coolant Instrument cluster

That helps! Ive heard stories that they make random codes up and that they do read the PCM, obviously not, thanks!

Also being a Di engine there are no electrical connections to the injectors, so you would get an injector circuit fault code on that car...
