Default Stereo Wiring for my 91 Scorpio

Hi

I'm just trying to install my Alpine head unit in my 91 Scorpio.

Can someone remind me which wires to the Ford ISO block do which?

I have thin yellow, thin red, thick brown which I'm thinking is earth,a thinner brown, and some others I've never used in the past on my Fords.

There's 2 blue plug ended looms and a loom with a red plug on the end.Plus a duplicate loom for the CD player below the radio which I'll leave unplugged.

Cheers!

Steve

The colours are the sane for the CD as well as the radio, there will be a splitter multi plug somewhere in the loom

Both Brown's are earth's
Either the thin red or yellow will be battery live for the memory while the thicker red will be switched ignition
There should be a blue one as well for remote power plus a grey/yellow one for illumination

Thanks mate,we have power !

Just one small point......where are the speaker wires???

I chopped both blue and the red interconnect and peeled back outer sleeving. This just revealed some shielding wrapped around some uber thin wires, which look nothing like speaker wiring.

could you not just have bought an adapter lead for a couple of quid?

i thought the days of people butchering wiring looms to fit stereos were long gone as you can get plug n play adapters for most cars now.

Firstly,that doesn't help

Secondly, where exactly would I have connected the ISO connector to?

I'm asking where the speaker connections are

firstly, i was asking a question that could have saved you a lot of time and effort.

secondly, unplug the original stereo, plug in the adapter, plug in the stereo. job done in most cases.

If I'd wanted to go down that route,I would have done.I solder all of my connections and heatshrink.

I know how the ISO plug system works of old.
You get one block with the power, earth, remote, illum.
Then the block with the speaker leads in ..... where's that is what I'm asking...

But thanks for your help.

The speaker wires are above the glovebox poking into the amp

Depending in what car you have you should be able to remove the wood effect trim and get to it that way

It should be silver and is bolted in with 3 screws

If its the later version its next to the glove box on the passenger side kick panel and will be a black box

Thanks mate.I soon discovered this, when I ran new copper cabling in.

I ended up putting in a pair of Alpine Amps and an Infinity/Harman Sub.

I normally run a Mercedes E Class Coupe, which is a pig of a car to create great sound in.

I had forgotten just how much more you can get done, with such great results, when you don't have a vertical fuel tank behind the rear seats!

Make me an offer on the Disc Player.

The Head Unit was tested and found to be unservicable,so I no longer have it.

I have the Code for the CD Player.
