Hi, wonder if someone could diagnose a possible cause for this.

Went to reverse park this morning and when i pushed the lever to the left it suddenly went all slack like something in the linkage had popped off?

Tried to put it in reverse and got a forward gear, seemed a struggle setting off like i was in 3rd or 2nd perhaps.

Would this be a linkage problem?

I got home ok as can still select 'some' gears.

Any help would be appreciated.

It will be your gear selector cable mate. Its probably gone a bit loose or popped out

Thanks for the quick reply, is that something I could fix or would you suggest taking that to a garage to sort? what sort of price etc?

Pop the gaitor off and have a look at the return spring (small little spring). Responsible for keeping the car in neutral and giving that tight feel to the linkage.

Do I need to remove anything around the lever as cannot see the spring?
