Default Rs2000 van conversion wont idle properly and cuts out under acceleration?

Hi, any help would be greatly received..... escort van with a rs2000 conversion from a 1997 donor car.

The problem im having is the car wont idle as it should and is hunting slightly, will rev up but coughs n splutters but will complete the whole rev range, but if i try to drive away it just wants to cut out and coughs n splutters, i can coax it if i only very slighty touch the accelerator but as soon as i try to give it any throttle it just dies, checked the plugs and they was very black so i have put new plugs in and its still the same, idle control valve has been replaced with a brand new unit and the car is still the same..... what should i be looking for next, coil pack seems to be sparking all 4 plugs.. The van was driving perfect after the conversion, ideas where i should be heading?

I think you can rule out fuel starvation and/or the fuel filter.
Black spark plugs point to overfuelling. Maybe a defective sensor?
Get it on a diagnostic machine and check the sensor signals.

The 1997 engine you used does normally have a 16-pin diagnostic socket.
Whether your car has it? I have no idea about the model-year and what kind of engine was in it.
Did you use the wiring loom and ecu from the 1997 donor-car?
Did you also include the 16-pin connector and it's wiring?

Il have to call the guy later who done the engine transplant for me, definetly used the loom off the donor car but half my original loom is still in there so i think he spliced into it, im going to have look for the odb port in a minute, also ive been reading about the EDIS causing very similar problems so im going to try the direct earth solution just incase although i also think its a over fueling problem.

A duff FPR could cause bad idle and sooty plugs. Coolant sensor could be faulty too.

Hi sorry for the delay, my mechanic said my fuel pressure was sky high & he adjusted the octan by the black triangle 3pin plug on the inner wing just behind the air box on mine hope this helps you get it sorted.
