Escort MK6 Stainless Steel Exhaust?-Advice Needed
Hi all, would like to know peoples advice on the following. The middle box on my car is starting to rattle so I thought I would see if anyone was selling a stainless steel one. Come across this one which was described as good as new and only covering 3-4k but am not sure if it is stainless steel. The tailpipe looks it but after that it just looks like a coated metal which I have seen before and was told it was coated stainless steel. On the first picture on the edge near the mounting rubber there appears to be a split so I thought if it was stainless steel that wouldn't happen and also the pipes would be, not just standard looking. I have attached some pictures so you can see, thanks.

It was someone in Swindon. Cheers for all the replies guys, really appreciate it. My first thought when I seen the pictures was that it wasn't stainless steel because of the shiny tailpipe and not so shiny back box. Like I said I was too it was coated stainless steel but the pipes would be as well. Was told it cost £354/£390 new (I know, two different amounts for some reason) the had it advertised for £95, got them down to £65 but I had doubts so glad I didn't bother. I would like it to sound more throaty but are there any pitfalls of buying a used exhaust as I can't afford a brand new one and would I be right in saying that the Scorpion with no centre box would be ideal for cars which are lowered because mine is and the middle scrapes on speed bumps and now and again where are dips in roads and I think that's what has caused it to start rattling. Cheers again.

Lol fair enough. Just reading your project thread mate, really enjoying it. Going off topic a bit, did you sand your bumper right back to the plastic and if so, did you just use the roughest sandpaper only I tried sanding one I have back and its only the edges which have gone back to the plastic. Cheers again and keep up the good work mate.

Morning guys. I've decided I'm going to go for a stainless steel tube in lieu of the middle box so I'm just wondering if anybody knows of anyone who could make one up for me cheap because the actual price of the tubing isn't expensive. Once again any help would be much appreciated. Cheers again

Just heard back from the place where i was going to ahead and have just a centre pipe fitted and first they said MOT wise it be fine but now they are saying it may fail on the noise level. I don't want to keep having to mess about changing it over for a middle box and I don't want to pay out for something which maybe useless. HELP lol

I went to get just a stainless steel middle pipe fitted this morning and it turns out the cat was knackered and causing the rattle. Bit of a schoolboy error on my behalf but I just assumed it was the middle because not only was it scraping but the last exhaust I had fitted before my new back box was a back and middle so just thought it was bound to go so soon after having a new back box. So now looking for a new cat. Can you get these in stainless steel and how hard are they to fit. Cheers
