Default Idle drop when warm

So there I've been for almost 3 years now driving the Escort very happily, passed MOT without a problem last week, but on the evening before the MOT I was on my way to pick the missus up from work (her *hiss boo* Vauxhall failed MOT badly a couple weeks back) when I noticed the oil and battery light came on whilst coasting do a hill, (I do this to save fuel) and it's been doing it ever since that night all of a sudden, when the engine is warm it just drops and I have to either have the manual choke on a bit or bump it back..

Any ideas? I would look in the ol Haynes manual but I'm on a night shift in a mental home and they don't have books like that here

Spose I best add that the problem is with my MK4 1.3 (OHV) Popular

Cheers n gone
