Zetec Turbo but WHAT turbo???
Morning guys.. Im a newboy on here but I'm no youngster My query is this, I have built a lovely fresh ZT Silvertop using a rarely found Ford supplied Brand New Silvertop Block and Crank, Burton Steel Rods, 86mm Wossner Pistons, ARP's, Recon Head with Uprated Springs blah blah.. I just need a nice RWD inlet plenum making now and an exhaust manifold (cant seem to find em anywhere without having them made) BUT... I have had SO MUCH conflicting information about WHAT Turbo to use that I feel like putting my head in the oven and turning the gas on!!!! I have heard Everything from T3/4 to GT30.76.. The engine is going RWD in a Mk1 Cortina and I'm looking for around 300+ bhp which should be well lively in 880kgs of Cortina I dont want it to be dead laggy either, I have been told that the GT30.71/76 can have a smaller turbine housing fitted for quick spool up??
Has anyone had lots of experience with Zetec Turbos and which Turbo to use cos I just want to fit and forget really..
Ta.

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
the gt25 from focus rs mk1 will spool up quickly upto 320 ish then after that you could use a gt28r which will flow enough air for 400bhp

pm crazycage off here as he has done manifolds for this exact application before, he has also had a fiar bit of experience with various turbo combinations so can offer some good advice. He has actually just changed his engine/turbo spec and is now running a borg warner monster thing slapped on the side of his zetec. Bloody monster of a thing lol
Anyway he should be able to help you

Turbo choice is subjective, what works for one person may not necessarily work for someone else. Have a nose at what similar powered 2.0 production turbo'd cars use (i.e. Impreza, Focus RS, Evo etc) and see what they're using. Those types of turbo are easy to source and are easy to get parts for etc.
