Zetec paul

Hi, I have just put a 2.0 zetec into a mk3 escort, car turns over and starts on the button but when you try to rev it dies unless building revs up slowly, also rev counter idles at 3000rpm, any help would be great, thank you

throttle posiition sensor faulty?? did u hear it running perfectly before u put it in the mk3?? also is the idle 3k or just says it on clocks wile idling is normal? idle control valve faulty?

I'd go for cleaning the idle control valve and throttle body then look to tps and Mass airflow sensors are temperamental so may be worth having a look at that too

Thanks will try that and see what happens, engine idles normal but rev counter says 3000, also some people say you need lambda sensor connected some say you don't, also a friend has 1.8 conversion without lambda connected with no problems, any suggestions?
