Nissan/Subaru Injectors (Zetec Fitment)
Hi guys, hopefully someone somewhere knows more about this.
I have a mk3 Fiesta Zetec Turbo and at the time of building the engine I read about some people using the Nissan/Subaru side-fed injectors. Apparently these being a useful tool to keep the standard EFI manifold.
Fitting was a dream but I have no end of problems with the lower seals leaking. I've tried bigger seals, different fuel rails, different regulators and even a different set of injectors and I get the same damn problem after about 200 miles.
The OEM Ford seals just didn't seal at all, even on pump prime so opted for larger seals which did work a tread but after a few journeys the seals seem to be deforming, splitting them just falling apart. I will add these are Viton rubber seals which are (apparently) the petrol resistant ones.
I've tried different pintle caps and even running without pintle caps too.
I'm at my wits end now and can't be changing the lower seals every other day so I'm wondering if someone, somewhere who's also done this mod knows an answer! I don't really want to be replacing the entire manifold and intake pipe/hose setup, also finding an end-fed rail seems very very difficult
Sorry for the long post but that should cover all the details.
Cheers
Engine pic for the hell of it. Some may recognise it etc.

There a pain in the arse mate. When I was looking into suitable injectors people had no end of problems with them leaking. I read somewhere, a kid turned the "bucket seals" upside down. He reckons they were made like this as adapters. If I can find a pic to explain Ill post it. But it's very hard to describe what he did.

Ah that's a different setup mate. Those are end-fed injectors using a FRST fuel rail. Mine's got the standard Zetec side-fed rail with the purple Nissan 200SX injectors.
Or am I being stupid and you mean to use those buckets on the side-fed injectors?

I'm not to sure tbh matey. They are Nissan sidefed injectors he's using. I've got the rover inlet and rover injectors so top feed for me all the way. If you google Zetec Turbo build threads pop up everywhere and you can see what others have done. I'm sure he mentions using them buckets to fit though.

Yeah, most folk seem to either use the FRST inlet or a rover one. I went with the standard EFI inlet after seeing the info on the jap injectors. Problem is, those who have done it seem to have disappeared and I'd like to know why
If it comes to it I could blacktop-fuel rail it and remove/relocate the iscv or something...

Yeah I've noticed they vanish too. I know a few of them have suffered failure to the injectors leaking at high ish boost.
Or go focus rs standard style??
