Focus Mk1 TDdi issues
Hello chaps
Putting this thread up to try and get some knowledge on an issue That came to light after a drive home today. Took a trip down the motorway home as a change of scenery and in doing so have discovered my ford focus 1.8TDdi has a very bad "vibrating" issue when accellerating over the 60mph mark and seems to be very noticeable at 70-80mph. Even when easing off the throttle when reaching said speeds it carries on for a few seconds until the speedometer reaches 55mph.
After checking around i have seen people mention things like driveshafts, engine/gearbox mounts, buckled alloys or warped discs. I have only had the car for 4 weeks and i would like to have it safe to drive and to keep it reliable as it's a good little motor. The only known problems i have with the car right now (before i discovered the above) is that there is a clunk sound from the gear lever when pulling away in first and sometimes second after a gearchange and a very annoying throttle problem which "sticks" in high gears?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

PassionFord Post Whore!!
Is it felt through steering wheel? Could be a simple wheel balancing issue.
If felt through the seat could point to rear wheels out of balance/buckled wheel/out of shape rear tyre.
Clunk could be from engine mountings.
Usually if it's a driveshaft inner cv joint problem, you'd get a vibration under hard acceleration in lower gears as well as higher speeds.
Not experience a throttle sticking problem on Focus diesels before, not sure what to suggest there.

Hello matey thanks for the reply
It appears mainly to be through the steering wheel and noticeable as the dash/body of the car vibrates along with it. I had a rear tyre changed recently so could be that the remainder all need ro be done as well? If i get time today i will see if a local garage is kind enough to have a look for me. Dont suppose suspension could play any part in it at all?
Cheers

Not Crazy, just Unwell
I've had this before! Wheels out of balance, and 1 was shaped flat as ifs at on flat tyre for yrs. a good balance should sort you out. Then see what happens with the clunking.
