Default Sapphire Cosworth Alloy radiator Issue

Evening People,

I've just replaced the rad on my 2wd saph as the original dropped a bollock.

I've fitted the new one in position, although it seems to have a fair amount of movement forwards and backwards even tho i've tightened the bolts that fit into the cross member with the 2 piece bushes.

Has anyone else had this issue or am i the only one? Just thought i'd ask before i start fabricating brackets to mount it to the intercooler.

I've attached a photo of the rad and a video below:

Any help would be great!

Thanks

Yeah although i'm comparing it to the movement of the original rad (none).

Video should now be working.

Yeah i know that matey....It's not going to be as secure as there's less mounting points. Just curious as to weather my mounts are shagged or there's something missing out the radiator kit.

If your bolting this to you intercooler which I'm assuming is mounted and secure all will be ok. Also once the pipes are on and tightened it will not have much movement

My saff had the same issue when I mounted my alloy radiator....I used the 2 small holes at the top to secure it to the intercooler (original fixings) sure they were only tiny self tappers

Ł130 off eBay.

Looks pretty good quality and the weldings neat.

Just watched the vid. Mine does exactly the same.
I think its for movement of the hoses etc etc when the engine slightly twists due to torque too.
As long as the bolt doesn't move and its the bushes compressing with the movement there, you will be absolutely fine mate

Check the clearance on your top hose to the power steering pulley , because it has been know that if the rad sways a little the pulley can cut the hose.
You can remove the side mounting bushes and bolt direct to the rails or put a small piece of rubber between it.
This will reduce/stop the sway of the rad

Couldn't see it being a massive problem, just wanted to get it secured properly. Going to fabricate some brackets later just incase else i wont sleep haha!!

I take it with out sounding cheeky you have not filled the header tank right to the top??

What method of getting rid of the air in the system did you do once you filled it with coolant??
I usually fill mine half way and about 3-4cm above the return (top) pipe to make sure it has water above its level and run my engine for about 15 minutes to make sure there is no air in the system with the periodic pipe squeeze before putting the cap back on and filling it back up to about 3/4's.
Sounds like you have a big air pocket trap some where maybe.

Don't give up mate, it'll be something trivial

Nice mod to stop the movement by the way

hi mate mine moved exactly the same, i used solid alloy spacers the same size as the rubbers and its fine, but i also am having a nightmare, iv fitted the rad, twin fans, rewire kit, uprated temp switch and a msd thermostat no mater what i do it gets hot and boils out of the header tank!!! before any of this was fitted the car ran perfect. iv tried alsorts and its doing my head in so let me know if you solve it.
