Default 2ltr DOHC bolt?

Hi, I have a 1991 Sierra 2ltr DOHC, a bolt has punched a hole through the lower front cover plate close to the pulley wheel???
I have recovered it and repaired the hole, changed oil/filter and the car seems to be running fine(for now).
Can some one please tell me where this bolt came from??
I have attached link with a photo of the bolt next to a penny.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

From memory, I think that's the upper timing chain guide bolt. The guide often breaks there but I haven't seen the bolt fall out before.

In the pic above, bolts marked 20 will be visible with just the rocker cover removed. On all of my DOHCs they never had the bolt 20 which goes through the top centre chain guide (item 10), the guide was just clipped on. Bolts 19 & 21 will only be visible by removing the lower timing case cover (necessitating removal of the crank pulley which will need a new stretch bolt when re-fitting). If yours is from the top of the right hand chain guide, you will need to remove the upper timing case cover to replace it.

Hope this helps.

it'll be the top timing chain guide bolt, number 20 in the pic but on the long guide on the right

had the same thing happen to a car i bought for free

you need to threadlock them into place when you reassemble and i wouldn't drive it in that condition as the guide will break and trash the engine

the complete chain guides and bits should come in at less than Ł140 for a complete front end rebuild so you may as well do it

about 3 hours work all in as long as you can get the front pulley bolt out

they will be the auxiliary relays for things such as the abs and stuff that don't live in the fusebox

not sure where the relay for the pump is as its been THAT long since i fiddled with sierras

Fuel pump relay is one of the small brown relays in the fuse box. From memory, I think there are two of these relays in there, can't remember which one it is. I think the guide in the lid of the box marks it with a little book symbol.

In my fuse box there are 2 tiny brown relays and none of them have a book symbol only 1 of the tiny blue relays has a book the other book is a 30amp fuse

Stand corrected on the little book symbol but one of the small brown relays is definitely the fuel pump one.
