focus st 2.5 hesitant under load and low boost pressure
hi all car in question is a 55 plate focus st 2.5
its had this intermittant problem for a while
last month it was serviced with new plugs oil etc however the juddering has not disappeared
car has been into ford where there were no fault codes stored and recommended replacement of all coil packs and plugs!
i have 5 new coil packs here now that i am ready to fit but i am not totally convinced that the coilpacks are to blame
it does almost feel like a broken down coilpack or 2 but am not sure whether this explains the fact the car runs okish untill maybe you give it a bootful in third and then sometimes it may rev round on full boost but in a bit of a lazy manner but then other times it feels like the boost is cut and on the boost guage in the car i am probably registering 1/3 to 1/2 of the usual boost???
car has been remapped but other than that is pretty standard
iv seen lots of things like boost pressure solenoid etc on forums but i am a bit sceptical due to the fact the eml and no fault codes are ever stored
does any body have any suggestions before i put nearly 300 quids worth of parts on the car that may not cure the falt at all?
cheers

I have similar problem... during boost Pressure needle stall for a while in 1/4 boost and then continues, but never boost full pressure. I have re-mapped car and boost was always on 4/4 pressure. I feel that car have less power than before. Also boosting is slow. It takes longer raise boost than before.
No diagnostic fault, no warning light on dashboard... just this strange behaviour. I replaced Solenoid but still same.
Does faulty MAP show error on diagnostic or not?

Our Volvo's have the same problem, how many miles has it done? Boost control solenoid becomes a service item at around 100k. Check all your vac lines first though.

I think I finally found the problem!
Yesterday I decided to remove symposer pipe and found that rubber hose which is splitting from intercooler to symposer "box" was broken.
I ordered new hose and I will blank it with plug. I will update you if it resolved my boost problem.

I think about the same, but I check that hose and it has small cracks all over so new piece will make me sure that there will be no leak at all.
Today/tommorow I should have part so I let you know the result.

I have a 59 plate st and it is losing boost so have changes the boost / map and Maf sensor but still losing boost,it is booked in with ford next week but am trying everything else in the mean time have had plugs out seem OK pipes all look OK as well.

Yes, it worked. After I blank it, boost were again full.
Also I open resonator box and rubber diaphragm in it were broken.
If you still have resonator in your ST, I really recommend delete it and prevent issues with it.

Just another tip for you... try check recirculation valve. On ST its really poor plastic part and it can easily got broken and leak. I already ordered turbosmart dual port valve and hope I got better response on turbo.
Recirculation valve is located right on turbo housing and its black plastic with small hose going from it.

Hi no still the same I'm thinking it could be the actuator iv change all most everything else. Just dropped it off at ford so will see if they have any luck at £102 a hour

Yes, in boost leak its pretty guessing and trying what it could be.
Atleast its good that you have excluded some reasons which might cause it so in Ford wont spend time with checking them.
About actuator... did you tried to move with rod on it if its going smooth and not snagging? Sometimes its stuck because of heat and its "baked" there.
Once on my previous car I had issue with it and I solved it just with WD40 and move few times in/out with it.

I have moved it in and out and with reeving the car a lot seen it move but I think it is a bit stiff not sure how easy it's meant to move to say either way. Should it be easy to pull in and out

Should be quite easy to move, because only vacuum is moving with it. Try a bit WD40 or similar silicone oil.
When I had issue with it, one mechanic was telling me that I need repair whole turbo because of low pressure. Its about 500€ for that.
Second mechanic just oiled and loosen stuck actuator rod and issue solved. He saved me a lot of money.

Yeah some times other times it would over boost to 1.2 bar others would be normal boost and boost would drop off completely and was slow as f**k couldn't take over a 1.1 panda 🐼 would have pull back in behind embarrassing

Focus st
The pipe that is circled does anyone have any idea what its called
Hi my friend is having a similar problem with his st 225 it's sometimes not boosting right and sounds like it's hitting a limiter but I have found a pipe that screws into the turbo on the left hand side that goes to the intake manifold has play in it's fitting but don't know what it's called any ideas
