Default Timing problem with Focus 1.6 Zetec

Hi, I've developed a problem with my timing. It seems to run slow (500-600 revs) instead of the usual c.1,000. I do about 500 miles a week, so assume this is wear and tear to a degree.... but, if I want to get this fixed, it's really not clear where, how much and who is trustworthy to do the job?

Do I get an auto-tune mobile mechanic round, take it to a Ford garage or somewhere else?

Help!

1K when hot is too high! It is running correctly now, although it could be a tad faster.

It can't be adjusted, it's controlled via the ECU, so if it has changed, it could be due to an air leak for example, have you looked at the vacuum pipes?
