Default Advice needed.. 1.8 TDCi, suspected injector problem, common fault?

Just after a bit of advice. My mum has got a 53 plate focus with the 1.8 tdci duatec engine. Over the past year or so, it has had a problem with starting after using it on a very short journey, once it had done a couple of miles or more though it would start fine. Been to a few garages and they have never really been able to put their finger on it or cure it. It cut out the other day and wouldn't start so it was towed into the garage again. After trying numerous things, they are suspecting it to be an injector related fault so is not worth repairing and going to scrap it. Is this a common fault with these engines? After searching the internet, there seems to be a lot of people experiencing similar sorts of issues. Thanks in advance.

150k plus and the injectors are on borrowed time. Especially in these days on neglected fuel filters and supermarket diesel. A set of 4 is about £700-800 from ford, cheaper if you go elsewhere. Easily replaced DIY, and the then car should last a good while longer

Car has only done 105k and ran perfectly prior to this. Bit reluctant to spend out on a new set of injectors incase it isn't that. Also, its not something I can do myself so would have to pay someone to do it etc.

You need to leak test the injectors. You can easily rig a DIY set up if you have 4 jars/bottles and some small diameter washer pipe style hose
