fiesta st150 very low mpg!! help
Just got myself a 2005 fiesta st 150 and it seems to drink a hell of a lot of juice
Worked out from my last full tank to the light coming on i was only managing 200 miles so about 24mpg and thats me driving normally.
(70 miles motorway crusing at 60mph and 130 miles around town)
Only mod i have is a k&n 57i. It has all the correct air feed pipes so its no soaking hot air.
Recent oil change and oil filter
All tyre pressures seem ok
Going to do spark plugs to see if it helps any
Has anyone got any ideas or is this normal?

Thanks for reply. I know it could really be doing with a 6th gear
I read on other fiesta st forums that people never usually get bellow 280 to a tank. Thats what worries me

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
The one i had was shocking. I took it in p/x against another car and in the few weeks i had it even getting to work and back put a dent on my wallet. That one had only done something like 43k with full history. You could try changing the plugs, fuel filter, oil and filter and put the standard filter back on and see if that gets any better but it probably won't. The ST170 focus arent great on fuel but i dread to think how they would be minus the 6th gear ! my stage 2 240bhp vag turbo is better when pootling around on fuel than my old st170 !

It really is bad. I expect atleast 30mpg considering nearly half the 200 mile tank was steady motorway cruising at 60mph
I fitted the k&n filter after recording the 24mpg since iv heard the standard airbox is very restrictive and a descent filter helps.
Il try changing plugs and fuel filter and post the results

I got shut of mine because it drank more than gazza and bought a zetec s tdci instead and halved my fuel bill. They should have fitted a 1600 turbo in these and have now realised this with the new ST.
