escort van engine conversion - which engine/pump?
Hi all, I'm new to this forum - I've invested in an escort van 1.8 non turbo 55.
I'm a mechanic and I'm going to restore her to her former glory and then some. I've read loads of threads on here and got some great info on swapping the engine for a turbo lump but need some clarification on a few bits.
As I'm lead to believe, there are 2 main engine choices - the 1.8 td without an intercooler, and one with. Both engines come from an escort or a mondeo (please correct me if I'm wrong?)
The one with the IC is 90 bhp so thats the one I want (?). Whats puzzling me is the choice of pump to go for. One thread said get an early pump from a mondeo without electronics for easy adjustment - anyone have any thoughts/experience on that?
Another question is are these said engines fitted to a focus? (if so which one) because it's getting hard to find escorts and mondeos now as most of them have rotted away and lay peacefully in the scrapyard in the sky!
Please advise me what combination you would choose or if youve done it already what you did. I want to be able to play around with fueling, boost pressure etc to try and squeeze some power out of it so the easiest way isn't necessarily the way I want to go with it.

im looking at trying to get a 2.0 turbo 130 bhp with the 6 speed gearbox into mine someone on here will know whats what
