hi guys i'm hoping someone can help me as i dont know where to start, i bought a 1987 escort rs turbo the other day with a boost problem, its now got a lot worse, engine keeps cutting out when loose foot of the revs, making a load continuous popping noise when turbo's about to kick in and slightly overheating, where do start or is it best to take it to a specialist, anyone know of a good place in the walsall/west midlands area

Its hard to say whats wrong with any car by talking about it and sometimes can cost more money trying things at a guess, my advise go to a person who knows the escort RS and have it looked at and set up etc it will work out the cheapest way in the end

ive adjusted the dizzy cap and now its running alot better, boost puts a smile on my face, still overheating though and seems to want to cut out when warm, gonna take it for a set up but dont know who specializes in these cars locally???

To help with the idle problem you now need to adjust the air screw under the throttle housing when adjusting rev slightle till you get about 700rpm the over heating could be the fact you fan switch has gone like most of we put in a manual swich because the fan switches are the frist thing to brake on these motas
