Default Fuel pressure

Ok so my ka has got a 2.0 zetec on twin weber carbs, my question is, I still have the original in tank pump fitted which is only used for the gauge, as I have a low pressure pump fitted to the chassis to run the carbs, my problem is, can I do anything with the in tank pump so the low pressure pump isn't trying to suck the fuel up from the pump? I don't think it is man enough to suck the fuel up as my fuel pressure is only about 1.2psi which isn't enough to run the carbs, any ideas? Cheers.
