Air con will not turn off Mondeo mk3
My son has a Mondeo mk3 Ghia 53 plate, and the air con wont turn off. When he turns on the engine the blower blasts cold air and there is no display on the control panel. He has put in a new control panel but it has made no difference. The only way to stop it is to remove the fuse behind the glove box or the relay under the bonnet. Any help please.

Works and plays on track
Is it on all settings or only when it is on the windscreen, as that automatically puts AC on. So should turn aircon OFF if you put on feet option etc.

If it has a display and buttons it will have climate control. Rotary knobs means normal air conditioning.
If the display and buttons are not working then there will not be any control of the system and it may default to maximum fan speed as a safety protocol in case the windscreen steams up.
Unfortunately they are ECU controlled which means you need diagnostic equipment to interrogate the HVAC system for fault codes and data to see if you can identify the issue.
One suggestion before you go to a garage with suitable diagnostic equipment though is to check all the fuses are intact and that none are missing that may supply the HVAC control with power. I would check all the fuses to make sure.

Have checked all the fuses. Looks like a trip to a garage tomorrow. Thanks for your help

Only the cars with the auto button have climate control
If you don't have this button then diagnosis is much simpler due to there not being as many things to check
But if it did have climate them you can check by simply vacuuming out the cabin sensor which is next to the drivers side left knee (in the little vent slot) and covering the sun sensor (in the middle of the dash close to the windscreen)
