this happens on every journy, when the engines hot or cold, i have tried to adjust the idoling speed but to no avail,?

also does anyone know where abouts the reversing switch is on the gear box housing?

Could be an idle speed valve problem, they are meant to be wide open when you shut off the gas to stop the engine stalling. They then slowly close until the required idle rpm is reached.

Try disconnecting the wiring plug off the valve to see if it affects idle rpm.
