Default Escort van immobiliser questions

Hi everyone. First post. I have a 98 Escort 1.8 diesel van here. Immobiliser kicked up a couple of weeks ago. One of those where it refuses to pump diesel and starter wont crank the engine over either. Im hoping to bypass the immobiliser altogether now. Sorting the starter out shouldn't be too much of a problem with a new wire from the ignition switch to starter. Now the pump side of it; Ive removed the security plate from the back of the injector pump. It has a 2-wire stop solenoid. Will I need to fit a single wire solenoid here or can I leave the original 2 wire in place and connect 12v to one wire and earth the other? Anything else needed to get around the problem?

Cheers for any help!

Got it sorted earlier. For anyone else searching and wondering the same questions, the original 2 wire solenoid works fine. One wire to ignition live in the original immobiliser loom, the other to earth and a fused wire from ignition switch starter wire to starter solenoid and away you go.

Hi. I know it's been quite a few years since your original post but yours has been the only reletive answer I've found and I've been looking for a long time...
Anyway...
If you still remember, can you give more details as to what and how you fixed yours please.
I have got the shield off from around the solenoid and that has 2 black wires attached to the side.
My van won't even turn over unless I short the starter across the terminals but no matter what I've tried it just won't fire up. It does have fuel getting through.
Thanks in advance.

he says 2 wires on solenoid
1 wire to ignition live
1 wire to earh

you should hear the solenoid click

as for the starter motor he put a new wire from the ignition barrel to the stater solenoid but if u look in your fuse box you can remove the green relay & put a sorting wire across 2 terminals & it works as normal (saves running new wire)

Thank you.
A wire between post 5 & 3 in place of the green relay and also removed the plunger and spring from the stop solenoid.
The only thing to do now is rig in an off switch as I don't think stalling everytime is the best way to stop the engine.....but at least I can use it again.
Thanks guys

I've got same problem. Could someone please explain to me, preferably with a idiot proof diagram how to by-pass the pats on a 2000 escorts van. Thanks
